Stepping into the Abyss

I've gone and done it. I've taken that one defining step that will forever change everything. It's time. I'm as okay with it as I will ever be which is to say resigned but not happy. Dealing with it.

Here it goes.. are you ready?

I've purchased a Nintendo DS Lite for Puddin's upcoming birthday.

I am not a video game person. Never have been. Never will be. But I get that I'm the outsider, the weirdo, the exception. And I'm not looking to visit that on my children. I've took a baby step earlier this year. I purchased a Wii. But it's been used sparingly and with lots of rules. Only during family game time, only sports or fitness games.

But she's ready to spread her wings a little. She stepped up the plate with her school work this year. She deserves the prize. She's earned it.  I'm dealing with it.

So my question to you Internet... is this... what games do I start her on? Because I know nothing about this.

She's new to it as well, so they need to be simple. Easy.

And she's a first grader so the reading skill needs to be light.

Help.

I stood in front of game case at Target and felt overwhelmed.

I'm in over my head.

Recommendation desperately needed...
